SIMONE GADDINI

Simone Gaddini is a native of Florence, where his family has resided since the 13th century. FLORENTIA was born of Simone's vision to create the first private walking tours organization in Florence.

Simone’s passion and area of expertise is urban development: how the physical shape of the city has evolved through the centuries; how history reveals itself in the fabric of buildings, streets and squares.

Simone's family (which includes a 6 year-old boy and a 2-year old girl) is a mixture of three cultures: Italy, California & China. Simone shares his time between his native Florence and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Simone Anichini is a native Florentine. Childhood friend of Simone Gaddini and co-founder of Florentia, he is also Florentia's head docent.

Simone's specialty is the Renaissance, in particular the role of the Medici family as patrons of the arts and the economy in Renaissance Florence.

Simone's family is also multicultural: His heritage is Italian, Irish and English; he is married to a Japanese and their 3-year old girl is fluent in the three languages! Simone lives in his native Oltrarno neighborhood in Florence. He also spends a significant amount of time in his wife's native town of Gifu, Japan.
